Brunch at Daylesford London
April 27, 2013 § Leave a comment
Last sunday we headed out to Daylesford for brunch.
A lovely niche grocery store located in Belgravia. Which also offers a restaurant service. Indoors and outdoors.
I opted for the chicked ceasar salad which was delicious and more than enough for a meal.
I strongly recommend you pass by it if you are in the area even just for some tea!

- Start by placing the Turkey slices between two layers of cling film, take a rolling pin and delicately pass it over them. Add some salt and pepper as you prefer.
- Once the slices are nice and thin place one slice of Prosciutto per Turkey escalope. And then the one leaf of Sage per slice over the Prosciutto, trap the whole layering with a tooth pick.
- In a wide plate mix in the Flour + the Salt & Pepper. Add the slices of meat to mix and make sure both sides are covered.
- Start heating the first the olive oil and then the butter to a pan.
- Once it starts sizzling up add the slices in, first place the slices head down (meaning the part with the prosciutto and sage against the pan). Cook for 1 minute and a half.

Milly and Olly Recipe – Spaghetti alla Carbonara
October 22, 2012 § Leave a comment
YOU WILL NEED: 500gr spaghetti, the large kind are better – 100gr butter, the best you can buy – 100gr grated Parmesan – 3 egg yolks, the freshest and organic ones are obviously better – 150gr diced bacon – salt and pepper
So begin by bringing water to boiling and while that is being done heat a non-stick pan and then let the bacon sizzle gentle at low flame.
Once water boils add the spaghetti and cook the right time, make them al dente, nothing worse than overfilled pasta!
Add to the ready spaghetti butter Parmesan and stir then the crispy bacon and finally the 3 egg yolks! Bring this heavenly cooked dish to your friends and family and before they attack it break the egg yolks and stir them in gently. It is important to place the egg yolks at the very end when the Parmesan and butter have cooled the spaghetti a bit so that the eggs don’t cook with the vapor from the pasta. Add salt and groud pepper and I am totally sure that everyone you know will simply LOVE IT!!
ALL THE INGREDIENTS
Sizzling the Bacon
Pouring the raw egg yolks over the pasta
Abundant grated Parmesan
Just before stirring all the ingredients together
(I kind of forgot to take a picture of the end result… ;) )
ET VOILÁ!
ENJOY!

Milly and Olly Recipe – Pasta alla Norma

Spaghetti alla Norma
To make and then experience this delicious mouth-watering pasta for 4
YOU WILL NEED: an eggplant – an onion – a clove of garlic – 4 ripe tomatoes – aged pecorino cheese – olive oil salt and pepper – and last but not least basil
+ for those who aren’t afraid of those extra calories one mozzarella
Half an hour before getting ready to start cut the eggplant into round slices and put them on a plate and cover them with salt to let water drain out of them.
In the meantime you can chop the onion thinly, wash the tomatoes and dice them in large pieces and grate the pecorino cheese as you would with Parmesan.
Once the eggplant slices have drained rinse them under running water so to wash away all the salt then cut them into dices just as you did with the tomatoes.
Start simmering in a large pan with a table spoon olive oil the chopped onion with the clove of garlic and once it’s nicely softened add the eggplant to the onions and after a few minutes add the tomatoes too.
Cook at medium heat for at least 20 minutes and in the meantime bring water to boil, add salt and the pasta you feel like eating, I usually prefer spaghetti.
Once the spaghetti are cooked, strain them and add them to the sauce in the pan letting them simmer for a few minutes at low flame, stir in the grated pecorino, pour them in a serving tray and top with basil leafs for decoration.
If you feel incredibly thin, or you think you will burn the extra calories add diced mozzarella and and let it melt into your mouth!
All the Ingredients
Simmering the onions
Stirring in the eggplant and tomatoes
The pasta being stirred into the sauce
ET VOILÁ!
ENJOY!

Inappropriate dreaming: FHC
June 25, 2012 § Leave a comment
This photograph has been catching my eye a couple of times now in my albums…Each time it leaves me longing for the subject: FHC…The infamous Frozen Hot Chocolate of Serendipity in NYC! One of the most delicious Drinks/Ice-Creams/Desserts to have ever been created on this planet! And one of the most inappropriate dreams to have when bikini season is around the corner and all my friends seem to talk about is diet, abs and the latest sacrifices one can be doing to get into the perfect shape…How can one say NO to such goodness? Luckily I live in Italy which isn’t in proximity of such goodness, it’s up to me to not fall in temptation next time I will be going to the big apple!…I just hope that if I do succumb , its at at time when layering is in season!
For those who do live in NY you can find mr. Frozen Hot Chocolate at:
Serendipity

Oh and make sure you take your kids, it has all sorts of bits and giggles to entertain the little ones, also its own toy shop!

Breakfast on the Go!
June 8, 2012 § 1 Comment
Yesterday I flew from Milan to Paris for a couple of days. My plan was to head to the south of france to celebrate my fashionista friend Fallon from BIble for Fashion birthday…I say was because for an unfortunate and sad circumstance the party was cancelled.
As I was meant to go down to Capri with Milly before I knew about the party, my invite was still open and i managed to switch my flight from Paris to Naples (got to love easyjet)!
Milly has always been a very caring mother and made sure to leave me some delicious Macarons in our home for my trip!
So here I am sitting in the cab, macaron clad heading down south! Havent been to Capri in ages! Im really excited about it! Especially of finally getting my tan on as i resemble a ghost!

Dinner with a view: Giacomo Arengario – Milano
May 24, 2012 § 2 Comments
To experience one of the prettiest views in Milan whilst having dinner we strongly recommend you try Giacomo Arengario, located in the 900 museum. By famed restaurateur Giacomo, this restaurant will not only leave you mesmerized by the pretty view on the Duomo and Gallerie Vittorio Emanuele, but also triumphant about their food. Milly had dinner there with my brother and friend, I joined in for my Crodino (aperitivo) drink. Everything looked divine, and I was confirmed tastes heavenly as it looked.
And it’s prices aren’t overwhelming for being one of Milan’s hotspots (20/28 Euros x maincourse) it’s well worth it!

Unmissable when in Paris: Chardenoux
May 18, 2012 § 2 Comments
After my Photography School end of year Exhibit, my dad decided to treat me and my friends to dinner. We were meant to go to Le Comptoir (yes the restaurant that I have spoken about a gazillion time, I’m it’s addict) – But as we were all famished my friend Julia suggested we would eat at Chardenoux, which is literally around the corner from Speos (our school). It was a fantastic surprise, the food was delicious, we all had a good time and we managed to sit outside. Couldn’t ask for more.
Here’s the photo review:

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!
This was our Colomba Pasquale for todays celebration:
From Italy with love, here’s the Colomba Pasquale (Easter Dove) we devoured over lunch. It plays a big part for Italy’s gastronomic traditions, given to one an other as a sign of peace.
Hope your day is filled with love with your loved ones.
